Candon City– Atty. Michel Kristian R. Ablan, CESO I, Undersecretary for Administration of the Department of Education (DepEd) graced the Timpuyog 2022, the division’s local stakeholders’ convergence, as the keynote speaker at Candon Civic Center, this morning, December 2, 2022.

USEC Ablan lauded SDO Candon City and the local stakeholders for their strong partnership and engagement to deliver quality learning in the division.

Atty. Ablan who had over 19 years of experience as a lawyer and as a former Provincial Board Member in Ilocos Norte encouraged the synergy of the diverse stakeholders more on the Local Government Unit (LGU) to provide funds for the construction of 160,007 classrooms needed in 2023.

“We have to work double time for the education of our children since they cannot stop growing. We can stop the purchase of helicopters in the DND or AFP but not the needs of these children in DepEd,” he said.

The keynote speaker also underscored the importance of planning.

“I recognize the output of the Schools Division Office- the Division Education Development Plan(DEPD) and the School Improvement Plan (SIP) of the different schools because it is very difficult to plan when things are uncertain, complex and ambiguous,” USEC Ablan added.

Meanwhile, Hon. Mayor Eric D. Singson pledged the city government’s continued support for DepEd’s programs and activities.

Highlights of Timpuyog 2022 include an exhibit of the history and improvement plans of the 34 schools, as well as a presentation of the division’s historical milestones, achievements, development plan for 2022-2028, and PRIME HRM Maturity Level II journey.

Certificates of appreciation were also given to the various stakeholders in recognition of their contributions to the division’s various activities and programs. Furthermore, all 34 schools were recognized for their level of School Based Management practice (SBM).

The newly-elected officers of City Federated School Governance Council (CFSGC) and City Federated Parents-Teachers Associations (CFPTA) were inducted into office by City Mayor Eric D. Singson.

Also present in the event were Santa Lucia Mayor Hon. Mayor Joseph Simon Valdez, Hon. Ma. Luisa Ragucos of LGU Santa Cruz, Hon. Romulo Ramos of LGU Banayoyo, Association of Barangay Captain (ABC) President Hon. John Paul G. Singson, City Councilor Godofredo Abrero, and CFSGC President Brgy. Capt. Reynaldo A. Garinggo.

Timpuyog 2022 was also attended by the barangay captains, 34 school heads, and SDO personnel.
